DMI Global Mission

DMI Global Mission is the international development arm of the Daughters of Mary Immaculate (DMI), a society of Women Religious founded in 1984 by Rev. Fr. J. E. Arul Raj in India.

Stories of Change

From Rejected to Respected – The Journey of Elizabeth John

Elizabeth John, 50, from Shinyanga, was forced into marriage at 16 and later escaped an abusive relationship. She rebuilt her life by training with the DMI Sisters in sewing, soap making, and entrepreneurship. With their support, she now runs a clothing shop, educates her children, and inspires other women.

Empowering Women through VSLA & Collective Farming

In Rumbek, 120 women from five Agar Dinka sections united to farm 120 acres, creating the “Peace Farm.” With training, seeds, and ox-plough support, the project boosted harvests and introduced savings groups (VSLAs). Today, it fosters livelihoods, dialogue, and reconciliation, uniting once-divided communities.

From Struggles to Strength: The Inspiring Journey of Mrs. Chief Ramathu

Mrs. Chief Ramathu, a single mother from Bangui-1 Federation, joined the DMI group five years ago. With training in soap making, natural medicines, and beauty services, she built successful small businesses. Today, she earns a stable income, supports her daughter’s education, and inspires her community.

Stitching a Better Tomorrow: Madlyn’s Journey

Mrs. Madlyn Ako, 28, once worked as a tailor but struggled to find stable income after marriage. In 2022, she joined a Self-Help Group and, with DMI support, gained skills at PNG Embroidering Company. Today, she earns a steady income, supports her family confidently, and inspires other women.

From Struggles to Stability: Margret’s Journey with DMI

Margret Lungu from Muchini Compound, Chipata, struggled for years as her husband lacked stable work. Joining the DMI Savings Group, she used a small loan to start a grocery business. Today, her family enjoys stability, nutritious meals, and hope for a brighter future.
